The Georgia Department of Community Affairs has announced that its Georgia Mortgage Assistance (GMA) program will stop accepting new applications on March 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The program, funded through the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF), has assisted nearly 12,000 residents in keeping their homes and helped prevent more than 1,600 foreclosures across the state.

Applicants must submit complete application packages through the Georgia Mortgage Assistance portal by the deadline to be considered for aid. The department advises applicants to retain copies of their materials and proof of submission for their records.

Customer Service representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to answer questions about the program. Those needing help with their application should contact Customer Service before March 13, 2026, to arrange an appointment for support either by phone or in person at the Atlanta office.

“Georgia Mortgage Assistance is a federal program with limited funds program. Not all eligible homeowners may receive assistance before funds are exhausted, and submission of an application does not guarantee approval or availability of funds. For more information, visit GeorgiaMortgageAssistance.ga.gov,” according to information provided by the department.

Contact options include email ([email protected]), phone (770-806-2100 or toll-free at 1-877-519-4443), and mail addressed to Georgia Mortgage Assistance c/o Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs at 60 Executive Park South, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329-2231.

The GMA program is federally funded but resources are limited; therefore not every eligible applicant may receive assistance if funds run out before applications are processed.
