The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has announced that its Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) program will conclude on June 30, 2026. The EHV program was created under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). DCA is among more than 600 Public Housing Authorities nationwide that administer this program.
According to the DCA, HUD issued the final funding allocation for the EHV program in March 2025. This allocation will support Housing Assistance Payments (HAPs) for EHV participants through June 30, 2026. After this date, HAPs will cease, and the contract between landlords and DCA will end. Any ongoing lease or tenancy agreement between landlords and tenants will continue independently of DCA.
“The Emergency Housing Voucher program is the only program impacted. DCA’s regular Housing Choice Voucher program and other special voucher programs are not affected by these changes,” according to a statement from the department.
