Emory University to host conference examining artificial intelligence’s societal impact

Emory University will host the 2026 AI.Humanity Conference on March 27, focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence on society. The event, organized by the Center for AI Learning as part of Emory’s AI.Humanity initiative, aims to bring together scholars from Emory and other institutions, as well as leaders from industry and government.

The keynote address, titled “AI Reality Check: From Hype to Hope,” will be delivered by Zeynep Tufekci. Tufekci is the Henry G. Bryant Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs at Princeton University and a New York Times opinion writer. She is recognized for her analysis of how science, technology, and society interact, with a particular focus on emerging technologies such as AI.

Five panel discussions are scheduled for the conference. These panels will be moderated by Emory faculty experts and will cover several topics:

– The role of AI in art, media, and the humanities
– The future of work in relation to automation
– The intersection of medicine and AI
– The environmental impact of data centers supporting AI
– The influence of big tech companies on social trust

The conference will take place at the Emory University Hotel and Conference Center. Registration is required due to limited seating. More information about the event and registration can be found on the conference website.
