The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology have announced a partnership aimed at increasing the number of nurses in Georgia. Under this agreement, Georgia Tech graduates with a bachelor’s degree will be eligible to enroll in Emory’s Master of Nursing (MN) program.
Emory’s MN program is designed for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field. The 15-month course prepares graduates to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), which qualifies them to become registered nurses.
This five-year partnership is part of Emory’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with metro Atlanta colleges and universities. The goal is to train more nurses and address workforce needs across the region.
“Partnering with Georgia Tech represents another exciting step forward for nursing education,” said Linda McCauley, dean of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. “Together, we’re expanding opportunities for future nurses and ensuring that our communities and health systems have the skilled professionals they need to thrive.”
The new collaboration is Emory’s fourth such agreement. The School of Nursing has similar partnerships with Spelman College, Agnes Scott College, and Oglethorpe University.
Steven Girardot, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Student Success at Georgia Tech, commented on the announcement: “We are excited to participate in a program that will develop future leaders in nursing. This direct pathway opens doors for our graduates to launch meaningful careers in nursing, living out our motto of ‘Progress and Service’ in the most impactful way.”
Emory’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is recognized nationally for its academic programs, ranking first among master’s programs according to U.S. News & World Report. It offers undergraduate through doctoral degrees as well as non-degree programs focused on preparing nurse leaders and scholars.
Georgia Tech is one of the leading public research universities in the United States, offering degrees across multiple disciplines including business, engineering, liberal arts, and sciences. The university serves over 53,000 students from across the country and around the world through its Atlanta campus and other locations.
