Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing has announced the launch of a new Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition program, which will begin enrolling students in Fall 2026.
The online program is structured as a four-semester, 50-credit hour curriculum that includes 17 courses. It is designed to provide advanced education, research opportunities, and supervised practice for those pursuing careers as Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs). The coursework aims to build both clinical and professional skills through an evidence-based and interdisciplinary approach.
According to the school, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, clinical skills, and ethical foundation needed to address healthcare challenges in various settings such as hospitals, community organizations, and international health initiatives. The program also seeks to prepare its students for leadership roles in nutrition and dietetics.
Lisa Muirhead, interim dean of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, said: “Our new Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition program reflects Emory’s commitment to innovation, health equity, and preparing practitioners who can meet growing needs in clinical nutrition and chronic disease prevention. Graduates will be exceptionally well-equipped to contribute to patient care, research, and policy at a time when nutrition expertise is more critical than ever.”
The new degree joins other Health Professions programs at Emory that focus on preparing students for leadership roles outside traditional nursing fields.
The program has been granted candidacy for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Students who complete all requirements will graduate from an ACEND-accredited program. More information about admissions can be found at nursing.emory.edu/nutrition.
The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is recognized nationally for its academic programs. It offers undergraduate through doctoral degrees and non-degree options. The school holds high rankings for its master’s, BSN, and DNP programs nationwide and has been named a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League of Nursing.
