DeKalb elections board schedules meetings for December on certification process

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections (DeKalb BRE) has scheduled two upcoming meetings to address election matters. The first is a Special Called Meeting on Friday, December 5, at 10 a.m., which will focus on conducting a pre-certification review of precinct results in accordance with State Election Board Rule 183-1-12-.12.

A second meeting is set for Monday, December 8, at noon. This Scheduled Meeting will cover regular business and the certification of runoff election results.

Both sessions will take place in person at 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur, Georgia. Members of the public can comment either by attending or by sending an email limited to one printed page (minimum font size 12). Emails must be sent to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov and received between 35 and five minutes before the start time. Each submission should include the sender’s first and last name.

In related news, enrollment at DeKalb County schools declined by 2.2% during the 2022-23 academic year compared to the previous year. The total student population for that period was reported as 98,287 students according to data from the Georgia Department of Education (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students made up about 14% of this student body during that same school year (https://www.gadoe.org/).
