DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are working to repair a 36-inch broken water main at 3124 Midway Road. As of the latest update, water pressure has been fully restored and there are no reported outages in the area. Residents and businesses nearby may notice brown water and are advised to run their faucets to clear out any discolored water from their plumbing systems.
Traffic controls have been set up while repairs continue, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible due to expected delays.
Customers who experience low water pressure can contact the DeKalb County Watershed Department by email at dekalbwaterops@dekalbcountyga.gov or by phone at 770-270-6243.
The ongoing infrastructure maintenance comes as DeKalb County schools saw a 2.2% decrease in enrollment during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, with a total of 98,287 students enrolled according to data from the Georgia Department of Education (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students represented 14% of the student population during that period (https://www.gadoe.org/).
