Nearly 58,000 DeKalb County voters have received official voter verification notices as part of Georgia’s ongoing voter list maintenance. The notifications, called “No Contact” and NGE (No Activity for Two General Election Cycles) mailers, are distributed by the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office to keep voter rolls accurate.
The “No Contact” mailer was sent in July to voters who have not interacted with their county elections office for at least five years. The NGE mailer went to those listed as “Inactive” for two consecutive general election cycles. Recipients have 30 days from the postmark date to respond and update their registration information to avoid being moved to “inactive” or “cancelled” status. Voters classified as “inactive” can still vote in upcoming elections.
“Maintaining accurate voter lists is central to ensuring safe, secure, and accurate elections,” said Keisha Smith, Executive Director of DeKalb Voter Registration & Elections. “If you have recently received one of these notices in July, please follow the instructions provided or contact our office for assistance. Voters can always check their registration status online at the State’s My Voter Page.”
To remain in active status, voters may update their registration through Georgia’s Online Voter Registration system or the My Voter Page, return the included postcard, or submit a Georgia Voter Registration Application to their local office.
Voters who have moved out of state can request cancellation of their Georgia voter record using the Online Voter Cancellation Request Portal.
For additional help or questions about registration status, residents can visit DeKalb Voter Registration & Elections at 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur or call during business hours. Status checks and updates are also available at mvp.sos.ga.gov.
