DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections schedules September public meeting

The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting is scheduled to take place in person at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur, Georgia. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Public comments can be made during the meeting or submitted by email. Emails must be one printed page or less, use a minimum font size of 12, and include the sender’s first and last name. Comments should be sent to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov and must be received between 35 and 5 minutes before the meeting begins.

By submitting an email for public comment, participants agree that their name and email may be broadcast on UStream and entered into the official record and minutes. According to the board: “The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections reserves the right, at the DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections’ sole discretion, to (1) add your email to the record/minutes without reading any of it into the broadcast or (2) read all or a portion of your email into the record/minutes.”

All public comments are limited to two minutes. The board states: “Abusive, profane, or derogatory language, holding up signs, clapping, yelling, standing, or laying in the aisles to show support for or opposition to a speaker will not be permitted, but a show of hands or quietly standing in place will be permitted to show support for or opposition to a speaker’s position.”

In related county matters, enrollment at DeKalb County schools dropped by 2.2% in the 2022-23 school year compared with the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). During that period, schools enrolled a total of 98,287 students (https://www.gadoe.org/), with white students making up 14% of the student body as the third most represented ethnic group (https://www.gadoe.org/).
