A recent food safety alert from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns of a multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to Live It Up Super Greens supplement powders. According to the CDC, 45 people across 21 states have been infected with the same strain of Salmonella. Twelve individuals have required hospitalization, but no deaths have been reported.
People who became ill in this outbreak reported consuming Live It Up Super Greens supplement powder. On January 14, 2026, the company notified the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that it would begin a voluntary recall of these products. The CDC advises anyone who has purchased recalled products to dispose of them or contact the company about returns.
The CDC instructs consumers not to eat any recalled Live It Up Super Greens supplement powders and to either throw them away or return them to their place of purchase. Surfaces and items that may have come into contact with these powders should be washed using hot soapy water or cleaned in a dishwasher. Individuals experiencing severe symptoms associated with Salmonella are urged to consult their healthcare provider.
Businesses are advised not to sell or serve any recalled Live It Up Super Greens supplement powders and should clean and sanitize all surfaces and items that may have contacted the affected product.
Salmonella infection typically causes diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps within six hours to six days after exposure. Most cases resolve without treatment in four to seven days, but some individuals—particularly children under five years old, adults over 65, and those with weakened immune systems—may develop more severe illness requiring hospitalization.
Further information about this outbreak can be found on the CDC’s website at https://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/outbreaks/supergreenssupplementpowders-1-26/index.html.
For questions about specific state cases, individuals are directed to contact their state health department.
In its statement regarding public health protection efforts, CDC Media Relations said: “Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are curable or preventable, chronic or acute, or from human activity or deliberate attack, CDC’s world-leading experts protect lives and livelihoods, national security and the U.S. economy by providing timely, commonsense information, and rapidly identifying and responding to diseases, including outbreaks and illnesses. CDC drives science, public health research, and data innovation in communities across the country by investing in local initiatives to protect everyone’s health.”
